Ghana Embassy in Madrid Holds Memorial Service for Victims of National Tragedies

Sep 15- 2025

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Madrid, in collaboration with the Ghanaian community in Spain, successfully held a memorial service on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, to honour the memory of Ghanaians who lost their lives in recent national tragedies.

The solemn service brought together about 200 participants, including members of the Ghanaian community, religious leaders, association executives, and members of the diplomatic corps. Among the dignitaries present were representatives from the Embassies of The Gambia, Mali, India, and Algeria, as well as leaders of Ghanaian Unions in Cataluña, Cartagena, Almería, and Madrid.

The occasion brought participants together in unity and solidarity as they paid tribute to the late Ministers of Defence and Environment and other compatriots who lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash, sixteen school children who lost their lives in a ghastly car accident on the Accra – Kumasi highway, and a renowned Ghanaian musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to all who attended and supported the event, particularly the Ghanaian community associations, religious leaders, and friends of Ghana in Spain.
