The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, interacted with global leaders at the 4th Meeting of the “In Defence of Democracy” Summit in Barcelona, Spain. The Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and H.E. Ambassador Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe were also in attendance.
Representing H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Vice President participated in discussions focused on strengthening institutions and multilateralism, addressing disinformation and digital challenges, and tackling extremism and inequality.
Ghana highlighted the need for reforms in the global financial architecture, more equitable resource distribution, and inclusive trade systems. The Vice President also underscored Africa’s progress through the African Continental Free Trade Area as a pathway to economic growth and resilience.
Ghana remains committed to advancing democratic values through strong institutions, inclusive economies, and international cooperation.
