H.E. Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe, Ambassador of Ghana to Spain, received Mr. Gerardo Vangioni, CEO of Mercy Ships Spain, at the Embassy in Madrid to discuss the organization’s upcoming humanitarian medical mission to Ghana and broader healthcare support initiatives.
Discussions highlighted Mercy Ships’ impactful work in providing free specialized surgeries, maternal healthcare, surgical skills training, and other healthcare capacity-building initiatives across Africa.
The meeting also highlighted the upcoming mission of the Global Mercy Ship, which is expected to sail to Ghana in August 2026 for a 10-month mission, Mercy Ships’ fifth visit to Ghana. During the mission, the organization aims to perform approximately 2,500 free surgeries, donate medical equipment and supplies, and provide professional healthcare training to support Ghana’s surgical care system. Mercy Ships also welcomes volunteers from diverse professional backgrounds to support the mission while in Ghana.
H.E. the Ambassador expressed appreciation for Mercy Ships’ humanitarian efforts and continued support towards healthcare delivery across Africa.
